Chris Mack and the Cardinals have decided to part ways!

Chris Mack and the Cardinals have decided to part ways! In the midst of his fourth season, both sides have mutually agreed to part ways as Mike Pegues will become the interim head coach while they search for their permanent coach.

The settlement between both sides is that over the next three years Mack will be paid 4.8 million dollars in total. This way both sides can have a nice agreement to transition that coach out and an interim coach comes in.

The Cardinals have multiple positions to fill; which would be the head coach, athletic director, and president position. So they have some gaps to fill as this is the second hottest market to go to in terms of all these positions being open.

Who was Chris Mack?

Mack is a very interesting coach, how so? Mainly it is due to the fact that the Cardinals had great success under him in his first year. The year he was hired was in 2018; sadly as his success continued it all got roadblocked by the COVID-19 pandemic. That pandemic sent the Cardinals in a whirlwind of problems that could not be fixed. So since the pandemic and having to adjust; we have seen them snubbed for the tournament, having good records, and now losing four of their last five games.

Chris Mack has been involved with so much that it feels insane it only has been four years; when he first got hired, the media believed him to the best head coach signing of that season. A very hot head coach that never transited well to the program of Louisville after leaving Xavier.
